WOW Air, the low cost carrier based in Reykjavik, Iceland, will be boosting their service to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline currently offers 4x weekly service to Los Angeles, and 5x weekly service to San Francisco. But it looks like starting March 26, 2017, they are bumping the route up to a daily service.
These routes are operated by the Airbus A330, offering 350 seats in an all economy configuration.
WOW Air flies to over 31 destinations in the US and Europe combined, and offers some pretty great fares. According to the airline, the fares on these routes will start at just $99 one-way, including taxes. However, the lowest I could find through the end of schedule was $179 to $199 one-way. That’s still pretty decent, especially for travels to Europe from the West Coast.
Keep in mind that WOW Air is a low-cost carrier, and they basically charge for everything. The fare you pay online includes a small carry-on and your seat, and that’s about it. You will have to pay extra for a larger carry-on ($39), seat assignment ($10 – $49), checked bags ($49), and meals onboard (menu here). The fees are higher if you pay at the airport.
Still, if you can travel light and don’t mind paying for extras, WOW Air can be a good option.
