About a month ago we learned that Delta was no longer awarding bonus miles for status matched elites, today reader Ken in Farmington Hills, MI provides this screen-shot with the Choice Benefit requirements for those who were status matched to Diamond and Platinum status.
Now, I sort of think this “enhancement” (not sure if this is the same policy from prior years) makes a bit of sense. It’s one thing to provide the elite perks when matching status in order to win over a new customer (though by not providing bonus miles anymore I guess they’re really not doing this either), but I could see an argument that the Choice Benefit is earned as a thank you for flying.
Choice Benefits are effective immediately for members earning Diamond or Platinum Medallion status. Members who are awarded complimentary Diamond or Platinum Medallion status must fly a minimum of 14 or 8 Delta-marketed and -operated flight segments after status is awarded to be eligible for Choice Benefits, respectively.
In any case, if you did qualify don’t forget to choose your 2013 Choice Benefit by February 28th at this link.
