Choice Benefit Changes? for Delta Status Matched Elites

About a month ago we learned that Delta was no longer awarding bonus miles for status matched elites, today reader Ken in Farmington Hills, MI provides this screen-shot with the Choice Benefit requirements for those who were status matched to Diamond and Platinum status.

Now, I sort of think this “enhancement” (not sure if this is the same policy from prior years) makes a bit of sense. It’s one thing to provide the elite perks when matching status in order to win over a new customer (though by not providing bonus miles anymore I guess they’re really not doing this either), but I could see an argument that the Choice Benefit is earned as a thank you for flying.

Choice Benefits are effective immediately for members earning Diamond or Platinum Medallion status. Members who are awarded complimentary Diamond or Platinum Medallion status must fly a minimum of 14 or 8 Delta-marketed and -operated flight segments after status is awarded to be eligible for Choice Benefits, respectively.

In any case, if you did qualify don’t forget to choose your 2013 Choice Benefit by February 28th at this link.

In some positive and unexpected news, Delta seems to be providing me 2014 status at a level that I fell just short of…

    • @Rapid Travel Chai – I hear that SPG Crossover benefits are given to those who are matched. BTW I was given Marriott Gold Elite status as part of RewardsPlus thanks to my UA status match late last year.

  1. @Rapid Travel Chai – I guess I was lucky? I used the same RewardsPlus page. I had 1K at the time and my Marriott status was updated within 24 hours.
