The Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), a company mostly owned by the government, earlier this week unveiled the MC-21 300. The company says the aircraft is “better than” the the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737Max. The plane is scheduled to complete certification in 2017 and has Russian-built turbofans and avionics.
The plane was unveiled at a glitzy Siberian ceremony attended by the prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, who said the plane is “cool”.
As per The Guardian:
The twin-engine short and medium-range plane will be built in two variants: the MC-21-300 which will have 160-211 seats, and the MC-21-200 with 130-165 seats. Deliveries are expected to start in 2018 and state media said numerous contracts with domestic and foreign carriers had already been agreed.
