AmEx Brings Back Extended Payment 10,000 Point Enrollment Bonus

by Adam

I canceled my American Express Business Platinum Card about 18 months after the annual fee came due and after I had already earned the 100K sign-up offer and an additional 10K for enrolling in the extended payment option (though of course I never took advantage of the benefit). I later signed up for the personal Platinum Card to earn another 100K points. A few months later, I received both an email and letter inviting me to enroll in the extended payment option…but with no bonus incentive.  Two months after that, I was again reminded that I could opt in to the extended payment option, again with no incentive. I was not interested since I don’t actually use the feature and was holding out hope for a 10K sign-up bonus. Well, it finally arrived today.  Below is a copy of the email offer received from AmEx:

To be eligible to earn Membership Rewards® points, you must be enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program at the time of enrollment in the Extended Payment Option feature. Only one offer per Card account is permitted, and points will be credited to your program account within 6-8 weeks after your Extended Payment Option enrollment is approved. Maximum 10,000 points per account.

Were you able to register for the offer once you logged into your account?

Hubby and I received the same email offer this morning but there is no button on the landing page to actually enroll in the offer once you log in.

Are these usually targeted? Got nothing on my or my husbands card. Thought about calling in to register, but can’t if the offer code is unique! Thanks for any tips.

@Meghan – They are officially targeted, but as long as you have a solid payment history, they have been known to apply the promo to other accounts. Definitely worth a shot!
