Following SPG and Marriott, Hilton has announced their first promotion for 2018! Under the “Points Unlimited” promotion, Hilton Honors members will earn 2,000 bonus points every stay, with 10,000 bonus points every 5 stays. Registration is already live, so make sure you register here.
This promotion is valid for stays between January 1 and April 30, 2018. All Hilton brands and properties are participating, with the exception of Hampton by Hilton hotels in mainland China, which are excluded from this promo. There are no limits to the number of points you can earn through this promotion.
Hilton has been on a roll with “double points” promotions, so it’s nice to see them offer a stay-based promotion. As with other similar promotions, this will benefit people who make short, frequent stays the most. For example, if you make 5 one-night stays, you’ll be earning 20,000 bonus points—that’s the equivalent of 4,000 bonus points a night, on top of any points you’d otherwise be earning with Hilton. If you value Hilton points at 0.5 cents a piece, you’ll getting an effective rebate of $20 a night, which isn’t half bad.
But even better, award stays are also eligible for this promotion. This means if we take it to the extreme and redeem 5 one-night stay at a 5,000-point property, you’ll be getting 20,000 points back for spending 25,000 points. Of course, with Hilton’s most recent devaluation on March 1, 2017, properties that require only 5,000 points a night are getting rare. But still, that’s not to say that you can no longer get a good value on a redemption. Plus, a minimum of a 2,000-point rebate on an award stay is also very much welcomed.
Whether you see yourself staying at a Hilton property in 2018, I’d recommend registering for this Points Unlimited promotion. That way if a need to stay at one comes up, you know for sure you’re not leaving points on the table!
