United Polaris Lounge in Houston Opens Friday, June 29

Houston, we have a Polaris Lounge – finally! Beginning this Friday, June 29, United Polaris business class customers flying from Houston Intercontinental (IAH) will have access to the new Polaris lounge by Gate E12 (Terminal E). The new lounge is United’s third addition since April, following openings in San Francisco (SFO) and Newark (EWR). Four United hubs now have Polaris lounges, with Los Angeles (LAX) coming “later this year.”

The new 191-seat lounge includes similar amenities to other Polaris lounges:

✅  321 (!) power outlets

✅  Two private daybeds with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding

✅  Six shower suites with Soho House Cowshed Spa products

✅  Personal valet service, including garment steaming

✅  Private dining area with sit-down service

United’s latest Polaris lounge exhibits “distinct flair from Houston, the culinary and cultural capital of the South.” My inner New Orleanian challenges that statement, but whatever you say, United!

Lounge décor includes art by two Houstonian artists, Shane Tolbert and Terrell James, and local(ish) inspired fare for the sit-down dining area. In addition to the popular Polaris Burger – available at all four Polaris lounges – United will serve up some unique dishes:

  • Texas-inspired breakfast skillet
  • Cajun andouille sausage and chicken étouffée
  • Argentinean roasted chimichurri chicken
  • Tres leches bites

Cocktails include Tequila-based Caliente on the Rocks and traditional Brazilian cocktail caipirinhas, made from muddled lime, sugar and cachaça. Other libations include house-made, star anise-infused vodka, and oolong tea-steeped bourbon.

Mark Krolick, United’s Vice President of Marketing, describes the hotel-inspired vibe:

As we continue to increase momentum of the roll-out of United Polaris, we’re thrilled to bring this industry-leading lounge concept to Houston, where the lounge décor, food and drink are all a reflection of the city. We specifically designed this United Polaris lounge location to feel like a boutique hotel.

Kudos to United for customizing its premium lounge offering! Four United hubs currently have United Polaris lounges:

🌟 Chicago O’Hare (ORD)

🌟 Houston Intercontinental (IAH)

🌟 San Francisco (SFO)

🌟 Newark (EWR)
