It may be called a Mystery Bonus Offer, but to me it’s not much of a mystery because when Hyatt has a sale on their hotel points, I don’t have to scratch my head and wonder how to put those points to good use. I can always find ways to use more World of Hyatt points often at one of their aspirational properties.
Hyatt is running a Mystery Bonus Sale on points. It ends August 21. After logging in to your Hyatt account here, you’ll find your mystery bonus on purchased points. The top bonus is 40% which comes to a little over 1.7 cents per point. Remember that the yearly limit on purchased points per account is 55,000.
I use Hyatt points the most and get great value from them. I accrue them from my Hyatt stays, too. I can transfer Ultimate Reward points to Hyatt, but I generally prefer to use my Ultimate Reward points for award flights. When Hyatt runs a points promotion I always take a look at it and weigh the cost of the points with my travel plans and potential Hyatt hotel costs.
Cash and Points Use for Hyatt Points
Also remember that there can be great value in redeeming cash and points for lower category Hyatt properties. Don’t forget when you search for “Points+Cash” nights to use corporate code 51440. This code brings up cash and points rates if available.
Let’s face it. During the peak travel season hotels are expensive. That’s often the best time to get great value from using Hyatt points or points and cash rates. You’ll earn stays towards Hyatt status on award stays and your elite benefits extended to you as well.
Topping up accounts for an upcoming stay can be a good value when the cost of acquiring points is less than the cost of a cash hotel reservation. Hyatt is my number one hotel loyalty program and I use up my Hyatt points as quickly as they come to me, so I can never have enough of them.
Buying points can be a good deal as long as you make math your friend and have a plan in mind. The Golden Rule is to not purchase points unless there is a plan to use them within about a year.
I would think most, if not all of us, have had some fantastic hotel stays in great properties using hotel points. I have been able to get super value from buying and redeeming hotel points. Points help me travel more for less!
