Skytrax Unveils 10 Cleanest Airlines In The World

by Chris Dong

I can’t tell you how many half eaten bags of chips I’ve found in the seatback pocket of US flights. (Hint: No US airline made this list. Shocker.) No one wants a dirty cabin, but it’s basically inevitable when quick turns take priority over all else.

SkyTrax has unveiled the cleanest airlines in the world. As expected, the Asian airlines dominate the top 10. While Singapore Airlines won SkyTrax’s top overall airline for 2018, it was Japan’s ANA that made the number one spot for cleanest airline.

10 Cleanest Airlines In The World

Asiana Airlines South Korea
Singapore AirlinesSingapore
Japan AirlinesJapan
Cathay Pacific AirlinesHong Kong

Swiss International Air LinesSwitzerland

Notably, not a single North American airline made the top 10. Nor did any make the top 20. Or top 30.

Skytrax got its findings from passengers who rated the standards and quality of cleanliness in the aircraft cabin. Cleanliness and presentation of seat areas, tables, carpets, cabin panels and washrooms all contribute towards the final results.

It’s not super surprising that airlines like British Airways and American aren’t on here. British Airways tested not cleaning its planes on intra-European flights and American has its gate agents immediately start boarding after the last passenger from the previous flight deplanes, even if cleaning isn’t complete.

Have you found these airlines to be clean when you flew them?
