Both Walt Disney World in Florida, and Disneyland in California will be charging families up to 20% more during holidays and during peak weekends, when compared to slower periods.
Yesterday, Disney quietly announced on their blog that they were adopting “Seasonal Pricing.” In their entry, they justify this by explaining:
As you may have read in the news, the demand for Disney Parks continues to grow, particularly during peak periods … it is also why we continue to look for ways to help spread out visitation. So, beginning tomorrow, we are shifting to seasonal pricing for 1-Day tickets.
These new prices go into effect tomorrow, February 28, 2016, which means if you want to avoid paying extra and have plans to head to either Disney property this year, you had better book fast!
At Disneyland, in Anaheim, CA, single-day tickets now cost $99. Starting on Sunday, “Value” tickets, for Mondays through Thursdays during weeks when most schools are in session, will drop to $95. “Regular” tickets (most weekends and many weeks during the summer) will climb to $105. “Peak” tickets (most of December, spring break weeks, July weekends) will cost $119.
At Disney World in Orlando, FL, the price changes are more complex, because they vary by park. At the Magic Kingdom, single-day prices will remain at the current level, $105, for value periods. Prices will rise to $110 for regular periods, and to $124 for peak.
Will this impact your family’s plans this year?

I go to DisneyWorld at least 3 times a year, from Philadelphia , so a 20 dollar ticket hike is not making a difference
That is exactly what Disney is hoping customers would say!
I just can’t see the justification. Well, I get the “surge” pricing, but I mean the justification for spending that at all.
I get wanting to see your kids experience Disney and the wonder and blah, blah, blah (full disclosure, we have our first trip to Disney w a kid booked for next spring because I’m a sucker), but for god’s sake – $125/day/person? And I can’t even buy a beer after schlepping around all day?? I know top-tier ski resorts cost the same, but at least at Vail, my family and I could go find some less crowded trails & lifts to go have fun on, unlike Disney where you’ll pay the most to wait in the longest lines.
you can get a beer or wine or cocktail at Disney. Head to Disney downtown and they have a number of restaurants with adult beverages!
They meant within the theme park. The only Disney park I know where you can buy an alcoholic drink and carry it with you within park grounds is Tokyo Disney Sea. Tokyo Disneyland does not offer this.
There are many places to get beer at DW. Every theme park sells beer. Also, it’s not $125/day/person. That’s only if you go 1 day. Most families tend to go 5 – 7 days, which then becomes $68 – $53/day/adult, slightly less for kids.
[…] Disney Introduces Surge Pricing At Their Theme Parks Starting Tomorrow by Point Me To The Plane. I’m kind of shocked that Disney didn’t use variable pricing before this to be honest. […]
What most are looking past on this is that the increase affects one day tickets only. If you book a vacation and buy 5-day park passes, you won’t see an increase.
