In Summer 2017, Hyatt announced that they were investing in Oasis, the home sharing platform. Today, Hyatt announced that Oasis will be joining the World of Hyatt program, which means you can now earn and redemem points for stays, and there will also be some (albeit limited) elite benefits. These properties are usually upscale and luxury residences, and will be part of the Unbound Collection. They will of course remain as home rentals, but are “hand-picked,” not unlike the recently announced Airbnb Plus.

Oasis Joins the World of Hyatt Loyalty Program
There are over 2000 Oasis properties scattered in over 20 destinations, and they operate home-meets-hotel idea. This means you still hotel-like amenities, like in-person check-in and on demand concierge services. According to Hyatt,
Sometimes our members’ travel needs go beyond a hotel, whether it’s because they’re traveling with a larger group, have a longer stay in mind, need more space or want to stay in a local neighborhood. But we understand that they also want the peace of mind, personalized service, and loyalty benefits they expect from experiences backed by Hyatt. As we continue focusing on super-serving our guests across more dimensions of their lives, this Oasis collaboration is an important step in understanding how we can serve our members in new ways and in new places.
Earning and Redeeming Points with Oasis, and Elite Benefits
Effective today, World of Hyatt members will be able to earn and redeem points at Oasis properties. The earning structure is identical to what you’d earn at basically any other Hyatt hotel:
- 5 base points per dollar, with bonus as applicable
- Bonus points with elite statuses: 10% for Discoverist, 20% for Explorist, and 30% for Globalist
- Earn elite-qualifying nights
With home sharing properties, standardizing elite benefits will be understandably harder than the rest of Hyatt’s properties. But here are som
- Ability to request late check-out on Oasis stays (the same 2 pm for Explorist and 4 pm for Globalist)
- Welcome amenity at check-in
As far as redemption goes, World of Hyatt members can redeem 15,000 points for a $200 credit towards Oasis stays, in $200 increments. 15,000 Hyatt points usually get you a free night at a Category 4 property, so I think this is a relatively fair valuation. However, at 1.33 cents per point, this is not a deal by any stretch. Still, I’m glad to see that Hyatt isn’t jumping on the 1 cent = 1 point bandwagon.
