Potatoes or rice? You might answer that question depending on where you are. And it just might depend on who’s cooking. When in Belgium, I’d choose potatoes each and every time.
This story had me reminiscing about some great burgers, some fantastic Belgian beer, and amazing fries I’ve enjoyed during trips to Brussels. And fish and chips, too. Yum!
Turns out amid the pandemic, potato farmers need help. Belgians are being urged to eat more potatoes. I’d do my part if I were there right now!

I learned something I had not considered before, possibly because in my house potatoes rarely go uneaten. Turns out potatoes do have an expiration date, of sorts. After a certain time they are no longer deemed edible.
Bet you can’t guess how many times the average Belgian household eats frites each week? Don’t want to give away too much about the Belgian potato glut and what creativity they are bringing to the problem.
Seems like there are so many pandemic-related sagas in countries all over the world happening to businesses in industries we never would think about. And as usual, the solutions lie with the actions of the populace. In this case, the potato eating populace!
