If you have travel plans this Memorial Day Long Weekend, you had better make sure that you pack your patience along with your toiletries. AAA has just released their predictions of the number of Americans expected to travel from May 26-30, 2016 and travel volume will be second-highest on record.
Driven upwards by the lowest gas prices in more than a decade, about 700,000 more people will travel compared to 2015. An estimated 38 million Americans will travel over the long weekend.
Of these travelers, 89% (34 million) are expected to be drivers, an increase of 2.1% over last year. Air travel will be expected to increase 1.6% compared to 2015, with 2.6 million flying. Fewer Americans are expected to travel via cruises, trains and buses, which will fall 2.3%.
