Alaska Increases Passenger Count at SEA Despite Delta Competition

by Adam

Last Thursday, Alaska Airlines reported that its passenger count was up +9.7% for the first half of 2015…not a huge surprise given the numerous destinations and frequencies the airline has added as it continues to battle with Delta. What was more interesting is that Alaska’s load factor was only down -1.6% to 84.6%, indicating only a few more empty seats compared to last year. Alaska has increased their capacity by 11.2% since the beginning of the year. Second quarter results will be announced on July 23rd, but first quarter was pretty positive…revenue was up +4% to $1.3 billion while net income was up +58% to $149 million.
