American said on Friday that they will delay delivery of 22 A350s, postponing arrival of the widebody jets by about 26 months per aircraft with deliveries now anticipated from late 2018 – 2022. The move will help the airline to spread out $1 billion in spending. President Scott Kirby said existing aircraft leases could be extended or AA could slow international growth:
“We can extend some of the leases longer to keep flying and keep the existing plans in place or, given a weak international environment, pull back on what our growth plans otherwise would have been.”
