Candidly, the new American Airlines product is outright embarrassing and we’re tired of apologizing to our passengers. We hear from many valuable corporate clients and premier status passengers that the product is not what they’ve come to expect from American Airlines. The often-repeated excuse that “we need more time” won’t cut it. Our pilots and passengers deserve better.
While there’s certainly a huge lack of consistency across the fleet (and even within the fleet types), American’s new planes and in-flight product are quite solid…and I wouldn’t call them embarrassing (though service on some of the new planes very much is – Disappointing American First Class Experience on the A321 LAX-JFK).
This is certainly more of a negotiation ploy from the APA who is upset with the return of a “toxic labor relations” environment. In their letter to management, the union accused AA management of engaging in “old school, rules-based management and cut-throat and heartless operating methods.”
