Many of our readers are asking questions about award ticket change fee waivers. This information is proving difficult to find for most carriers. Here is a list of the award ticket change fee waivers we could find listed by airline.
This page will be updated with the latest on this topic as more information becomes available.
Delta
Delta is one of the few airlines that has a statement on their website directly addressing their award tickets.
The same rules apply whether a flight is booked with cash or miles. For award flights that qualify for a change fee waiver, we are also waiving the mile redeposit fee.
You can see the guidelines and read more here.
Southwest Airlines
As mentioned in this article, you will receive travel funds for all alternative tickets, including Wanna Get Away fares.
You can read more here on the latest announcements having to do with travel and the coronavirus from Southwest.
American Airlines
I was not able to find a direct statement on their website, however an inside source has said yes award tickets will not have change fees and will be treated as a regular ticket would be if purchased before March 1st, 2020.
Their travel alerts page has all the (many) details here.
United Airlines
There is no mention of award ticket change fee waivers at all on their website.
Here is a page with their regular award ticket change fees and guidelines.

Hawaiian Airlines – HawaiianMiles
At this time there is no mention on their site about redepositing HawaiianMiles. Many other travel sites state that Hawaiian Airlines will redeposit the miles to your account with no penalty if your trip falls within the waiver guidelines for a regular ticket. Here are the guidelines and alerts for regular Hawaiian Airlines tickets during the coronavirus outbreak.

AA and United are both still charging award redeposit fees as of today.
Southwest still requires you to cancel before departure or lose your funds. Delta is not requiring notification.
AA redeposited my miles for free last weekend. Easiest part of cancelling trip. You gotta call though.
Thanks Lee! Great to hear.
