Barclays Launches 30,000 AA Miles Spend Promotion for Existing Cardmembers

by Adam

For years, Barclays has offered 15,000 bonus miles for spending $500 or $750 every month for 3 months after a period of inactivity on the US Airways / AAdvantage Aviator Red MasterCard. Well, I now have a very similar offer, but for 30,000 bonus miles and a TON more spend over double the number of months. I’m still pretty psyched for the 30K bonus, even with the new requirements which I’ll hit with manufactured spending. Even better, I received the offer despite actually using the card this year thanks to 2X and 3X spend category bonuses.

Earn 30,000 bonus miles – here’s how it works:
1) Register for this special offer by December 31, 2015
2) Spend $2,500 or more on purchases using your AAdvantage® Aviator™ Red MasterCard® each month from December 2015 through May 2016 and earn 30,000 bonus miles
3) Plan your next getaway – once you’ve earned your 30,000 bonus miles, they will be awarded in July 2016 and you will be able to redeem them for exciting adventures just a few days after that

Besides the much higher required spend of $15,000, this may interfere with canceling your card. Remember, Barclays only refunds the annual fee within 60 days after the charge hits your statement.

Offer is valid for select cardmembers and is not transferable. Qualified cardmembers who activate by December 31, 2015 will earn 30,000 bonus miles after you charge $2,500 or more in net retail purchases (purchases that are not returned or rescinded) each calendar month from December 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. If you do not spend over $2,500 in any of the 6 months of the promotion you will not be eligible for any bonus miles as part of this offer. To receive your bonus miles, your account must be open, active and in good standing. Purchases made during periods when your account is delinquent or your account is otherwise not in good standing as defined in your Credit Card Cardmember Agreement do not qualify for this offer. Your bonus miles will appear on your statement up to 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion. Net retail purchases do not include such things as the purchase of money orders, traveler’s checks, foreign currency, lottery tickets, gambling chips, wire transfers, person-to-person money transfers or using the account to obtain a cash advance.

Only bummer is that by May 2016, I’ll no longer have much need for AA miles. I think I’ll pass

Good offer! I really like Barclays because of all the offers they give out. Got the 15,000 offer recently, plus some 3x spending categories. So this new offer effectively gives you 3x (2x bonus + 1x regular) on all regular spending assuming you hit the threshold.

What was the title of the email if you don’t mind?

Got it too. Throwing miles, errrr points, errr dollars at cardholders to appease the masses after copying United and Delta?

I’m not sure chasing 30k miles is worth the 15k dollar effort. I don’t want to cheat myself and switch MS from 5x UR to 3x for AA miles after the devaluation.

This is great! A perfect way to help offset the upcoming devaluation.

Rent is roughly $2500. Can pay that with via cc with a 2.5% fee. $375 for 45,000 miles. I received the e-mail. Planning on taking aadvantage.
