In what might be the most April Fools sounding non-April Fools story ever, British Airways has apparently been responsible for delivering pizzas thousands of miles…to Nigeria.
According to Nigeria’s minister of agriculture in conversations with a senate committee, ultra-rich Nigerians have been using their smartphones to order pizza from London and then transporting it via British Airways flights.
Dear @British_Airways, how come you didn’t tell us you run a pizza delivery service to Nigeria? Is there an app for this? https://t.co/k7Bvk8CoeX

Indeed, British Airways Flight 75 from London (LHR) to Lagos, Nigeria (LOS) arrives just in time for dinner at 6:00pm local time. Of course, the pizza has to get through customs before making its way to its final Nigerian destination.
The Upshot
I have so many questions here. Most importantly, as a New Yorker pizza snob, why pizza from London?
London truly has an amazing food scene but as far as I know, pizza isn’t one of them. Instead, a better option would be to transport true New York-style pizza on Delta’s daily direct flight from New York-JFK to Lagos. I highly recommend these wealthy Nigerians to use that service instead. (And if they wanted to provide the flights on Delta One, I’d be happy to be the pizza courier myself.)
Get the door, it’s delivery. And a British Airways 747 jumbo jet at your door. Happy not-April Fools?
