Citi Adds JetBlue and Sears Shop Your Way as Transfer Partners

by Enoch

Citi ThankYou is the rewards program that comes with many Citi credit cards, including the Thank You cards and the Citi Prestige. With certain cards, you can transfer your points to travel partners, and Citi has been adding transfer partner sporadically.

It looks like they have just added JetBlue and Sears Shop Your Way as transfer partners.

Transfer Citi ThankYou Points to JetBlue

You can transfer your Citi ThankYou points to JetBlue in the following ratios:

  • 1000 ThankYou Points = 800 TrueBlue Points for Citi ThankYou® Premier, Citi Prestige® and Citi Chairman® cardmembers

1000 ThankYou Points = 800 TrueBlue Points for Citi ThankYou® Premier, Citi Prestige® and Citi Chairman® cardmembers

  • 1000 ThankYou Points = 500 TrueBlue Points for Citi ThankYou Preferred or Citi Forward cardmembers

1000 ThankYou Points = 500 TrueBlue Points for Citi ThankYou Preferred or Citi Forward cardmembers

This is pretty interesting, since I don’t think I have seen “tiered” transfer rates between Citi cards before. A 1000:800 rate would be the same as the transfer ratio with American Express Membership Rewards. Regardless of card, you will have to transfer a minimum of 1,000 ThankYou points.

JetBlue has a variable redemption rates, based on the fare of the ticket. You can redeem 1 TrueBlue point for up to 1.89 cents. This means if you have a Prestige, TY Premier, or Chairman card, so you could potentially redeem 1 ThankYou point for up to ~1.5 cents off a JetBlue flight. That’s not an amazing value, considering you can use ThankYou points on flights at the ThankYou Travel Center. Your points would be worth 1.33 cents there, and you’d earn points from that flight.

Transfer Citi ThankYou Points to Sears Shop Your Way

With Sears, there is a fixed transfer rate of 1 ThankYou point = 12 Shop Your Way (SYW) points. You can use Sears Shop Your Way points on purchases at Sears, at a rate of 1 SYW point = 1 cent. This means you can get up to 1.2 cents per ThankYou point when you transfer to Sears SYW.

Again, this isn’t a particularly good redemption option, but if you can transfer as little as 1 ThankYou point. So if you need to top off your SYW account, this could be potentially useful.

Takeaway

I’m happy to see new transfer partners from Citi, and while these aren’t the most exciting partners out there, it’s good to know that they are constantly working on more options.

These changes mean that there are now 15 ThankYou transfer partners, in the following ratios (ThankYou:Partner).

  • AirFrance FlyingBlue (1:1)
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (1:1)
  • EVA Air (1:1)
  • Etihad Guest (1:1)
  • Garuda Indonesia (1:1)
  • Hilton HHonors (2:3)
  • JetBlue TrueBlue (5:4 or 2:1)
  • Malaysia Airlines Enrich (1:1)
  • Qantas (1:1)
  • Qatar Privilege Club (1:1)
  • Sears ShopYour Way (1:12)
