Future of Travel? LAX-SFO in 30 Minutes w/ Underground Tubes

by Adam

Is this the future? It’s a propulsion system that will rocket people and cargo through tubes at the speed of sound within five years according to startup Hyperloop One, shortening a trip from LA to San Francisco to 30 minutes. The technology was tested in the desert north of Las Vegas this week.  The future system of underground tubes would act as a safe alternative to highway crossings and bad weather per the designers. The technology was first articulated by Tesla co-founder Elon Musk in 2013.  He was busy with his electric car and granted the idea to whoever wanted to try it out. Company officials hope to combine the separate components later this year for a test they are calling their “Kitty Hawk moment”.
