Good Luck if Your Crossover Rewards Don’t Post – It’s A Battle with DL & SPG

by Adam

I recently had two Delta flight segments that did not automatically post to my SkyMiles account, even though my SkyMiles number was properly included in the reservations. I requested the flight credit online and the proper miles were posted quickly within 24 hours. However, my Crossover Rewards for these flights never posted to my SPG account. I started by contacting SkyMiles, here’s their response:

Dear Mr. Adam,

Thank you for your email to Delta Air Lines requesting mileage credit.

We have forwarded your request for Starwood points to the
appropriate departments. Kindly, allow processing time.

Mr. Adam, thank you again for giving us an opportunity to respond to
your concern. We highly appreciate your Platinum Medallion loyalty to
Delta and look forward to the privilege of serving you again.

Sincerely,

That message was Tuesday of this week, on Friday that same week I received the following message also from Delta:

Dear Mr. Adam,

Thank you for contacting Delta Air Lines.

For any discrepancies regarding your Starwood account you will need to contact the Starwood Customer Service at 1-888-625-4990.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

xxxx

Based on that last response, it didn’t appear that Delta had contacted SPG on my behalf (or perhaps even realized that there is a Crossover Rewards program), however this morning I received the following:

Hello Mr. Adam,

This is xxxx with the platinum desk here at Starwood. I just wanted to follow-up with you regarding your request for Crossover Rewards for your recent Delta flights. Unfortunately,  we cannot credit any points until Delta provides us with all flight details including ticket pricing. To date, we have not received this information from Delta. Please contact Delta to request that they send your flight information to our service center. If you have any other questions please free free to contact me at xxxx@starwoodhotels.com and enter my name in the subject line.

Take Care,

xxxx Platinum Reservations and Member Services Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide

Oh boy, it sounds like it’s going to be an uphill battle to get these points! Why didn’t Delta just provide this information over to their SPG contacts when they forwarded on my email? Anyone else have experience with requesting Crossover Rewards that have not automatically posted?

Just to be clear, I have been registered for the crossover rewards, and I’m a DL PM. I have since both flown on DL and stayed at SPG hotels. I don’t see miles posted from my Westin stay, and I don’t see SPG points posted from my DL flights. Am I misunderstanding the program, or am I missing points?

@Wanderingentrepreneur – you are missing points if you followed the t&cs in terms of allowable flights and stays

I’m an SPG Platinum, flew DL about a month ago (made sure my SPG number was in DL profile) and still haven’t seen the points. And the the DL agent at SkyPriority check-in at LAX didn’t even know what Crossover Rewards were. I’m guessing that these are 171 starpoints I’ll never see. And since I’ll never fly Delta again after that flight experience, I guess it isn’t worth sweating.
