Hilton has announced its latest quarterly category changes in hotels today. 21 hotels will be going up in price, while 33 are going down. These changes take effect on October 12.
For the most part, these changes are pretty mild, and I am happy to see that not a single hotel jumped up more than one category. Most of the hotels that are decreasing in prices, however, are properties in Turkey. I visited Istanbul just a few weeks ago, and there’s no question that the tourism industry is suffering quite a bit there, and the updated categories reflect that. As a reminder, this is Hilton’s current award chart, which is itself not affected by category updates:

One of the properties that’s of great value is the DoubleTree by Hilton Beijing. It has a good location and at just 10,000 points a night, it’s pretty much a steal. That hotel will be doubling in price to 20,000 points a night after this category update.

I have sorted all of the changes below, in increasing new categories. These new categories will only apply to bookings made after October 12, so if you are interested in a hotel that’s going up in price, you should definitely book before then.

So if it’s in a war zone it’s a 1 but if it’s a road side Garden Inn “Motel” it in Kansas it cost as much as an Intercontinental Hotel. Sounds like Hilton to me.
