When you have driven along the Oregon coast on United States highway 101 like I have, you will find that this list is indeed no surprise.

I stayed overnight in a small cheap independent motel in Florence, which is south of Newport and north of Bandon. The people are friendly, and the scenery is breathtaking.

Having lived in Oregon for many years and having motorcycled all the Oregon coast many times, I can attest to how beautiful the coast is. If you decide to visit, however, pack jeans and a jacket regardless of the season, and you’ll only be needing the Speedo for the hotel hot tub.

And watch out for “sneaker” waves! Several people are killed at the coast every year – the surf is treacherous!

Has the author is this “list” ever been east of the Columbia river?
I thought the beach involved actually going in the water and not getting hypothermia.
Interesting.

I think author is only including west coast states, therefore only 3 to chose from….

Having just spent three weeks touring the Oregon and WA coast it is indeed beautiful with friendly people and empty beaches. The reason the beaches are empty is because it is miserably cold and foggy a lot. WA was a little warmer by Sequim which was more tolerable. The trip was great one time, but give me a nice warm beach in the future.
