Trip Report – Sheraton Bratislava – Very Impressed!

by Adam

This is part eight of a twelve part trip report from my travels to Prague, Nice, Bratislava, Sorrento, and Rome. I was extremely impressed with my stay at the Sheraton Bratislava and this trip report includes details from that weekend stay.

I booked a last minute non-refundable rate of EUR 99 per night for a classic non-smoking king room…

however, I was upgraded to a junior suite with my SPG Platinum status.

The hotel opened in 2010, though it still feels brand new. My junior suite was by far the nicest room I had throughout this trip. The suite has a large foyer, combined open living room / bedroom, and gigantic bathroom with a fantastic rain shower. It’s evident that the room was recently designed as there were multiple USB chargers, international power ports, and outlets everywhere! The wifi was very strong (unlike every other hotel during my European trips this summer). I also found the bed more comfortable than the Westin Heavenly beds (gasp) from my last three Westin stays. Perfectly sized pillows and a comfy mattress and duvet.

Besides the previously mentioned amazing shower, the bathroom had dual mirrors and vessel sinks, as well as a separate bathtub.

Water views – Note, there is a club at Cinema City and you’ll hear the music until around midnight if you want the water view. It’s loud but not intolerable, though we were out both nights and it was quiet by the time we came home.

The outlet in the safe actually worked…another first for this trip.

We arrived around 8pm on a Friday night and although the lounge was not staffed, it was still open (until 11pm). We used are card to enter and found an empty but modern lounge with ample seating areas overlooking the main lobby. There were wine bottles open, cold beers in the fridge, and spirits on the counter. Some light snacks were also out at that time…

The great part about an un-staffed lounge was being able to stock up on waters to bring back to the room!

The hotel is located in the new city quarter named Eurovea on the Danube embankment (it’s essentially a huge modern waterfront, dining, and mall area.

Overall, we loved the Sheraton. In fact, when my colleagues are asked “how was Bratislava”, they respond with – the Sheraton was great! We weren’t exactly overjoyed to return back to the Hilton Prague Old Town at the end of the weekend.

When it comes to Bratislava, Euro Trip was just a tad bit off, it rocked! The old town and newly updated waterfront were great, but my favorite activity was a canoe ride down the Danube as we followed the “Iron Curtain Escape Path”  from Slovakia into Austria.

Who would have thought Bartislava would have such a nice waterfront with great restaurants…

Yep, those beers are .80 cents a piece!

Was just here in May, very similar feedback with yours. Both the hotel itself and staff were superb! Scored a deluxe suite and club room.

Ha, I’m glad you enjoyed my hometown! It’s really nice to see something saying good thing about a visit here (for a change). And I’m thankful you didn’t mention the atrociously looking train station! 😀

I stayed at the Sheraton Bratislava in late November 2013. I agree that it was one of my favorite hotels in my six week, 13 country jaunt through Europe. I remember that the bed was so relaxing and the breakfast (included in my rate, about $90USD) had everything from smoothies, full English breakfast, to made-to-order omelets. It was soooo good!

The mall next door was decked out for Christmas and was packed on Saturday. It has a cinema and I was so tempted to check out the latest Hunger Games in Czech (with Slovakian subtitles)!
