It’s been quite easy to score Vanilla Reloads in the New York metropolitan area IF you were willing to head out to Long Island, New Jersey, or Connecticut. However, for those who refuse to leave Manhattan Island, it’s been difficult! There are very few CVS locations that still stock Vanilla Reloads and then a few weeks ago several of the stores that actually had them stopped accepting credit card payments. Well, I have some good news for NYC VR collectors, two locations are now fully stocked with 30-40 cards per location! I’m providing the details below, but please be accommodating to your fellow readers and limit your purchases to one or two per person.
CVS – East 34th street between 2nd and 3rd. About 40 cards remaining. Self-checkout and the checkout counter DO NOT work for credit cards. You must use the pharmacy checkout. $1000 max per transaction so make sure you remember to consider the $3.95 fee per card. Update 3:30pm EST, no cards remaining here either. Impressive speed from the PMttP readers!
CVS – East 42nd street between 3rd and and Lex. About 30 cards remaining. Self-checkout and regular checkout work. ID required, $1000 max per transaction so make sure you remember to consider the $3.95 fee per card. Update – This location has no cards remaining.
Live from the CVS on E. 34th…

It doesn’t matter to me since I don’t live in NYC, but why broadcast this? Perhaps letting thoese truly still searching (re)discover VR’s for themselves while doing their diligence.
I agree with the first poster. This doesnt warrant a post IMO.
I disagree with the other posters. I email Adam weekly to see if he’s heard of any new york city locations with VRs. If there are, why not post? I’d rather fellow BA readers receive the cards than others. I know several others who email him each week as well for nyc locations.
thanks adam, just picked up two at 34th street. Appreciate the post, it’s not that I’m lazy it’s just so rare to see them here so I find it newsworthy. Agree with evan, this is a community so if we can help each other, why not.
“Doesn’t warrant a post” ????!?!? It’s HIS blog, he gets to decide what “warrants a post”. If it doesn’t interest you, then move along.
2 picked up at 34th street location. Thanks for posting. To Geoff and Troy, I attended the Point Me to the Plane meet-up in NY and everyone was trying to help each other, especially with regards to VRs. That’s what it’s all about.
I believe 34st location is sold out. Didnt see anymore. Just a FYI.
@Bundy – Thanks! Did you check both gift card racks? There’s another one down the greeting card aisle.
Yes. I took the last 2 around 2pm. keep up the good work Adam! Suprised how fast it went.
@Bundy – Thanks, glad you were able to get. I’ll update the post.
Hah i just notice your clock is off for the post stamp. It seems liek its based on Central time?
@Bundy – Yea, BA is based in Colorado Springs so the post stamp is EST – 2
Adam, is the $1000 limit a CVS thing for all NYC locations?
@Peter- I have yet to find a location that doesn’t have a $1000 per day limit
Are you saying that the $1000 daily limit includes the $3.95 fee per card? That would mean putting $496.05 on each card.
I’ve never heard of this and always buy two cards at $500 each for a total purchase of $1007.90
I haven’t bought any Vanilla in Manhattan but have bought many around Brooklyn. I cleaned one out right before leaving for #BAcon, leaving 2 behind!
Slow content week?
@Tom – Pretty big news for VR collectors in New York City.
I’ve been finding them at ~half of Manhattan CVS stores for the last month. Please don’t list locations. (Maybe with 6x on Hilton over they will be more available)
Ahh thanks Adam… Always thought you’d only post locations via email and not on web. Those are my local CVS (i live on east 36th st) and will now have to look elsewhere :/
I just hope these two locations don’t become suspicious that in one afternoon several people just got vanilla reload cards two at a time (hence why I’m ok spreading the knowledge of an exact location via email or in person interactions versus on the web/blog.)
