United Launches Longest Nonstop Flight From US, #3 in World. Full List of Longest Flights, Mine All w/ Points…

by Adam

United flight 37 from Los Angeles to Singapore departed last night at 9:16pm (almost 10 minutes early) and just landed in Singapore.

The flight is 14,144km and clocked at 17 hours and 55 minutes on the outbound and 15 hours and 15 minutes on the return aboard a B787-9 Dreamliner. Last night’s flight officially became the longest flight from the US, displacing Qantas flight 8 from Dallas to Sydney.  The flight ranks as the 3rd longest in the world, after Qatar’s Auckland to Doha and Emirates’ Auckland to to Dubai flights.  Of course, this is all temporary (see –Breaking: Singapore to Restore Non-Stop Flights to NYC & LAX! Regain Longest Flight Title).

I’m extremely grateful that points and miles have allowed me to take 10 of the flights on the current and retired “Longest Passenger Flights” lists maintained by Wikipedia, including the longest ever Newark-Singapore-Newark flight (SQ21).

I don’t care if it can leap tall buildings in a single bound, it’s still UA, it’s still a shitty airline, and I wouldn’t fly it internationally if you paid me.
