In a lawsuit that was tried last December, Lufthansa accused a passenger of willfully booking a cheaper ticket with no intention of actually using the final leg of their journey . According to the airline, the passenger booked a roundtrip business class ticket from Oslo to Seattle via Frankfurt for €657 back in April 2016. The fare was due to a special sale Lufthansa was running for Norway residents. On the return, the passenger de-planed in Frankfurt and flew to Berlin on a separate ticket. Lufthansa told the court that the flown ticket would have been €2769 and demanded the defendant pay the additional charge plus interest.
The case was tossed as German court documents revealed that Lufthansa failed to explain how it arrived at the charge. However, Lufthansa is persistent and it was revealed today that the airline has appealed the verdict and will get to make their case once again.
