Last night I was helping my mom find the easiest way to prevent her Dividend Miles from expiring when we came across the 500 mile bonus for downloading the Dividend Miles StoreFront Assistant.  I had previously participated in this promotion about four months ago but had completely forgotten about it. As per the T&Cs – To qualify for the initial download 500 bonus miles offer, make at least one search or purchase using the Dividend Miles StoreFront Assistant. Bonus offer is valid only for the initial download and install of the Dividend Miles StoreFront Assistant. So while the page notes that you receive the bonus for downloading and shopping with the assistant, it’s clear from the T&Cs that a search counts as well, which is how I qualified for my 500 miles.  It took a little over two months for the miles to post, which will hopefully come in just prior to her expiration date.  However, several readers have reported the miles posting after just one month.

This option was perfect for my mom as she was not interested in signing up for Netflix, receiving Thanks Again text messages, or redeeming a small amount of miles for magazines to keep her balance alive.  I would have transferred one SPG point to her US Airways account, but that option doesn’t work when the names on the two accounts don’t match exactly.

Surprised to hear that you couldn’t do the SPG transfer. I transferred SPG points from my wife’s Starwood account to my US Air account for last year’s Grand Slam, and they posted with no problems at all (and I got the hit)

@Gardy – So was I, I’ve done it in the past! This time I received an email that the first and last name of the account holders must match.

Also, could have done audience rewards trivia. Easy and free.

@Scott – or the sweet little convert points trick on
11 div miles > 8 Greenpoints > 1 DM

nice little hit for the GS last year for the folks that didn’t have points anywhere else. Though I guess you’d just have to transfer enough DM out to get 1 point in any other program, and that qualifies for keeping your account active, so now that I type that, disregard (tho keep in mind in case the GS shows up again this year!)

You can easily do the 1 point to ANYone’s US Acct as a SPG Plat

@ffi – I know, I used to take advantage of this. However, after a little over a week of the mile not posting I received an error message that the transfer was not successful. Hopefully this is a one time hiccup and not the implementation of the AA rules for SPG transfers.

whenever I click “shop now” it keeps telling me to log in with my US mastercard. after I do that and attempt to click “shop now” it takes me right back to the log in page.
I gave up after 4 attempts.
