A Point Me to the Plane reader, who also happens to work at Allstate, forwarded on this internal memo which explains why United MileagePlus miles and IHG Rewards points will no longer be awarded to New York residents. Strangely enough, the topic for my May post was about the offer returning after a rebating investigation. Registration for the 4,500 mile/point offer should still be working for those states that were not formally excluded.
Discontinuation of Affinity rewards in New York
Highlights:
In February, Allstate announced a new affinity relationship with United Airlines in many states including New York. In June, Allstate announced a second affinity relationship with Six Continental Hotels (IHG ® Rewards Club) in many states also including New York. Based on conversations with the New York Department of Financial Services, Allstate is no longer able to continue Affinity rewards in the state of New York. Please review the frequently asked questions which provides talk paths to assist with customer conversations.
- Everyone with pending policies and anyone that purchases a policy through Sept. 30, 2013, will get their rewards manually.
- In New York, new business will no longer be eligible for United MileagePlus® miles or IHG® Rewards Club points. Bass Pro Shops is not a rewards based program and will not be affected by this decision.
- Allstate values the relationship it has with the New York Department of Financial Services and will continue to work with them. Please let me know if you’d like to discuss further.
