China Airlines Launches New Amenity Kits by The North Face

Fancy amenity kits are just one of the many perks available to passengers traveling in premium cabins, and we have covered quite a few of them here on Point Me to the Plane.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, China Airlines will be launching new amenity kits for Premium Economy and Business Class passengers. These new kits are a result of a collaboration with The North Face, and the cases are made of waterproof materials. The red version will launch on February 1, 2019. while the black version will be available starting June 2019.

The Premium Economy version will include the very basics, including a dental kit, ear plugs, and an eye mask. There is also a tub of  “Water Sleeping Mask” by Korean beauty brand LANEIGE.

Meanwhile, the Business Class version of the amenity kit will come in a tube-shaped carrying case that China Airlines says is made of Tyvek. It also comes with the basics like dental kit, ear plugs, and eye masks. On the skin care side, passengers will find more goodies by LANEIGE, including a “Lip Sleeping Mask” and a “Water Sleeping Mask.” There will also be a bottle of Moroccon Oil hair treatment.

China Airlines and EVA Air are the two major airlines based in Taiwan, and both of them offer a great overall onboard product. EVA Air is especially notable for their much coveted Rimowa amenity kits, which are provided to Business Class passengers on long-haul flights originating from Asia.

With that in mind, I can’t help but think that The North Face is a rather interesting choice by China Airlines as a partnership for amenity kits. I suppose I tend to associate The North Face with more rugged, outdoorsy types of travel gear, and think that some passengers might find the giant logos on their bright red amenity kits a bit strange. Still, The North Face is well known brand, and I am sure plenty will find the cases suitable for use after their flight.
