Wow, this morning Delta shared details for their Delta One suite which will first be introduced in fall 2017 on Delta’s new A350 fleet. Each aircraft will feature 32 suites (Delta One currently has 26-38 Delta One seats). In addition to full flat-bed seats with direct aisle access, which the airline introduced eight years ago, the Delta One suite features:
- A full-height door at every suite
- Sliding privacy dividers between center suites
- In-suite, customizable ambient lighting
- Dedicated stowage compartments for shoes, headphones and laptops
- Contemporary design featuring premium trim and finishes
- Memory foam-enhanced comfort cushion
- An 18-inch, high resolution in-flight entertainment monitor, the largest among U.S. carriers
- A universal power outlet and high-powered USB port at every seat
Following the A350 debut, the Delta One suite will progressively roll out on Delta’s Boeing 777 fleet. All A350s / B777s will have the suites by the end of 2020. The planes will operate mostly to destinations with flight times of 12 hours or more. Delta will be the first US airline to take delivery of the A350, which will primarily serve routes between the US and Asia.
Delta told the NYT that the suites will not be an additional class of service, but rather a full on replacement for the Delta One on some long-haul flights. The airline also noted that this is a “…product upgrade, not a price upgrade”.
