One man’s mission is to go to every state and mow people’s lawns. But not just anybody’s lawn. Rodney Smith Jr. founded the nonprofit, Raising Men Lawn Care Service, to focus on individuals who are unable to mow their own lawn, whether it be due to old age, a disability or perhaps just a struggling single mother.
Rodney’s current mowing campaign is targeted at veterans — and he successfully mowed the lawns of military vets in all 50 U.S. states. Up until recently, his game plan has been to drive to each state with his equipment in tow. However, there presented a slight problem for both Hawaii and Alaska in terms of drivability…
Delta Covers The Cost Of His Last Two Trips
That is when Delta decided to step in and help. They proactively reached out to Rodney to cover the cost of his trip to his last two states, Hawaii and Alaska.
Flying back home tonight. Back to mowing free lawns for the elderly, disabled, single moms & veterans in AL. Will also be visiting more cities this summer & mowing for those in need. And now Rodney has completed his quest to mow veterans’ lawns in all 50 states, in what he has dubbed the “Thank You For Your Service” tour. He even named his mower “G.I. Moe” and sat down with each veteran to hear their stories which he has documented on his website and on his organization’s various social channels.
Here is the letter in full that he provides to the veterans:
This summer, Rodney’s plan is to mow more people’s lawns, but in his home state of Alabama. Kudos to Delta for providing the flights and a bigger kudos for the amazing work that Rodney Smith Jr. is doing with his nonprofit.
Delta also was in the news recently for swooping in to help a group of students who were stranded by American Airlines. The Delta PR team has been killing it recently….
