Disney World has joined Universal and Sea World Orlando in announcing an early closure today and a shutdown for tomorrow. With Hurricane Matthew approaching, the park will close today at 5pm and will remain closed until Saturday morning. Disney moved guests staying at the Fort Wilderness campground earlier in the day and helped them find other accommodations for the storm. Unfortunately, “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party” that was scheduled for tonight has been canceled. Disney has closed only three other times for hurricanes – Floyd in 1999 and Frances and Jeanne in 2004. All parks were also closed following the September 11th attacks.
