Etihad Ditches Le Labo with New First Class Amenity Kit

by Enoch

Etihad has a pretty solid First Class product, and their First Class Apartment on the A380 is truly industry leading in many ways. It features a separate seat and bed, as well as a bar and onboard showers. Etihad has been partnering with Le Labo for their First Class amenity kits, which come in a nice bag that pays homage to its Emirati heritage. It has patterns of Sadou, which is an Abu Dhabi weaving craft.

Etihad also currently uses Le Labo products for their onboard bathrooms and showers:

However, it looks like they are switching up their offerings. Instead of an in-house Sadou kit, the new cases will be Christian Lacroix-branded. I actually liked that their current amenity kits show their Abu Dhabi roots, but I am sure the new bags will please many First Class customers as well. They will come in gray and plum colors, intended for male and female passengers, respectively.

The male version of the kit is designed to be versatile. It can be used as a toiletries kit when buttoned, or as a tablet case when unbuttoned and flattened out. The female version, on the other hand, can be repurposed as a clutch.

On the toiletries end, Etihad is ditching Le Labo for Omorovicza, a cosmetics brand from Budapest. Omorovicza is citing a shared Ottoman Empire heritage as one of the cultural reasons for the partnership, and will be offering items from the “Gold Collection” for the amenity kit:

  • Perfecting lip balm
  • Balancing moisturiser
  • Nourishing hand treatment
  • Refreshing cleansing wipe

They are also making a few additional products available in Etihad onboard bathrooms, including a hydrating mist, face and hand wash, and a hand lotion.

Aside from the toiletries, the amenity kit will also contain a number of comfort items. This includes ear plugs, a vanity kit (ear buds, cotton pads, etc.), a dental kit, eyeshades, and socks. Gentlemen will also receive a shaving kit.

I am pretty excited about the new Etihad amenity kit, especially since my family has an upcoming flight with them. As much I love the scent of Le Labo products, skincare isn’t really their specialty. Personally, I’d much rather use high quality skin care products than branded toiletries that smell good. That’s why I’m such a fan of the Aesop products that Cathay Pacific offers, and I like the trend that more airlines (even American!) are partnering with skincare companies.

These new amenity kits will initially only be available for A380 passengers, on routes between Abu Dhabi and London, New York, Sydney, Melbourne and Mumbai. However, Etihad plans to extend the offering fleet-wide in early 2017. They will also roll out new colors later in 2017, with burgundy kits for ladies and black ones for gentlemen.
