Below is a copy of a ticket receipt from the Etihad “xmas fare sale” which provides evidence to support what most had already suspected, the “sale” was clearly the result of only taxes and fees being charged. You can see that the fare for JFK-CDG-AUH-MAN-JFK is actually listed as $0.00. The taxes/fees/carrier imposed charges total $158 instead of the $178 charged, as the $20 Priceline fee is not included below. This ticket has been confirmed and ticketed with seats selected on both American and Etihad for one couple who is heading roundtrip to Abu Dhabi…with planned full day stopovers in both Paris and Manchester.

Booking fee from the ticketing OTA
a bf of 0 doesn’t always have to mean its actually 0$.
bulk fares, negotiated fares,… will also always show a 0 or an empty field.
So if you have travel insurance through the credit card you used would it pay anything if your flight gets delayed, your sick and miss the flight or would it reimburse you for the taxes and fees. I know it doesn’t matter much, just thinking.
@DaninMCI – I’m actually not sure. I’ll open that question up to the readers…
*you’re (sick)
How about the other destinations? JNB, HKG, DEL were they also $0!base fare?
@Nic – They were as well, additional taxes and fees accounted for the difference.
