Today is the final day to take advantage of JetBlue’s promotion for 15% off TrueBlue redemptions. Here are the terms of the offer:
- Valid for flight redemptions Monday-Thursday for April 29 to May 21 and May 29 to June 20
- Fares automatically include 15% off TrueBlue points discount on award redemptions
- Not valid on Mint (JetBlue’s version of business class)
JetBlue has a fixed currency program (or fairly close to fixed) meaning that the cost of a redemption is pegged to the cost of a ticket in cash.
This is the similar to the type of reward point redemption that credit card travel portals like Amex Travel and Chase Ultimate Rewards offer, both transfer partners of TrueBlue.
Therefore, before transferring points, it makes sense to compare the number of TrueBlue points required to the number of points required through a portal like Ultimate Rewards. This is especially true if you hold a premium Chase card — when Ultimate Rewards points are worth more than 1 cent per point for portal airline bookings — like the Chase Sapphire Reserve (1.5 cents per Ultimate Reward point) or Ink Business Preferred (1.25 cents per Ultimate Reward point).
JetBlue TrueBlue rates seem to fluctuate a bit more based on fare class, destination and sometimes, for seemingly any reason at all. Often time, the best redemptions on JetBlue are on flights to Latin America as we had written about previously.
