Two weeks ago I blogged about how my speculative reservations made just hours before the Hyatt devaluations on January 6th were somehow re-processed on the 18th at the new category 7 pricing of 30,000 per night. Hyatt quickly responded that this was unintentionally done for some members and that any guest with an award that was repriced should contact guest relations for assistance. I finally had a chance to do just that and found it interesting how the points were re-deposited. They were put back in my account as a bonus. Interesting…since these are speculative that means that I would most likely receive the full 30,000 back as well if I cancel the reservation, essentially allowing me to make date changes at the old rates past February 15th. Now I’m wishing I made some more speculative bookings!
