I was in the air on a long flight when news of the Hyatt Diamond match hit. By the time I landed, got to the hotel, settled in, gathered my credentials and emailed Hyatt, it was almost a day after the news broke…and probably quite a bit after many of the 10,000+ matching requests were received. Well, this morning I was pleasantly surprised with an email from Hyatt – my SPG Platinum status had been matched to Hyatt Diamond status. My four suite upgrade awards were already loaded in my account! I’m very thankful that it appears that Hyatt actually continued to match to Diamond status if you truly had a corresponding elite level in another program, SPG Platinum in this case.

sound like hyatt now only matches the upper tier status like diamond or so. my request from current hyatt platinum & gold from others has been pending for a response
Sent proof of Marriott Plat + recent stay, and SPG Gold, then days of waiting finally got:
“Currently, we are able to match our Diamond status only with Starwood Preferred Guest’s Platinum status. On reviewing your Gold Passport account XXXXXX, we have noted that your are already a Platinum member with Hyatt. Hence, we are unable to upgrade your Gold Passport membership to next tier level.”
Ugh.
