My colleagues have to deal with my points and travel obsession on a daily basis and so they take any opportunity to make fun of it (though they have all now redeemed multiple free international trips courtesy of our hobby). I specifically hate April Fools’, but I was so busy at work this morning that I completely forgot about it. One co-worker casually asked if I had heard about the latest in the SPG saga. I assumed he was referring to Anbang walking away from a potential deal (old news for us right?). He then proceeded to tell me about the newest offer…from Hyatt. I of course, would much rather two of my favorite hotel companies combine rather than have one I don’t like acquire my favorite…and so I was quite excited.
Well, they certainly took their prank to the next level…our web development team created three fictitious news articles with working links and they even collaborated with our press team to create fake press releases from both companies. About 12 people in total were in on the prank…and they totally pulled off the perfect April Fool’s joke on someone who has been glued to the SPG/Marriott saga. If only it was real…
Happy April Fool’s!
Anyone else get pranked with Starwood news?
