While a layover may sometimes seem like a drag, it’s most definitely not when that gives you the opportunity to leave the terminal and see another city — all for free.
Two trips is always better than one. Iberia is now introducing a new program to drive more direct bookings and to promote their route network from their hub in Madrid. As a passenger, that means you’ll get a free stopover in Madrid for up to six nights.
How The Iberia Stopover Program Works
Let’s say you’re planning a trip from New York to somewhere in Europe. Instead of just going to your normal channel for booking a flight (like maybe using a powerful tool like Google Flights), also take a gander over at Iberia’s “Hola Madrid” landing page too.
If you book a roundtrip flight directly on this page, you’ll be eligible for up to six nights as a free stopover either on the outbound or return segment. Prices should be the same as if you were booking with a short layover at the airport.
There are also other perks as part of the Iberia stopover program. These include up to a 40% discount on Melia Hotels, offers on experiences, restaurants, public transportation, free beers (!), and more. Oh, and while you’re at it, might as well check out these 11 free things to do in Madrid.
