Now Live: IRS “Get My Payment” Site – Check Status of Your Stimulus Payment

by Miles Jackson

The IRS and US Treasury Department have now gone live with a site that allows you to check the status of your stimulus check directly online.

Check The Status of Your Stimulus Payment

Get My Payment Check Your Status IRS Treasury

The Treasury Department’s Stimulus payment status tracker is now online!

The new IRS web portal allows users to check the status of their stimulus payments quite easily. Your first step is clicking over to this page to view the stimulus check tracker info and then looking for the “Get My Payment” button.

What if the IRS doesn’t have my current bank info for direct deposit?

The site also features the ability to enter the proper bank account information if the IRS doesn’t already have it on file from a 2018 or 2019 refund.

You can also update your bank account or mailing address

According to the IRS:

  • If they don’t have your direct deposit information from 2018 or 2019 return – and haven’t yet sent your stimulus payment – use the Get My Payment application to let them know where to send your direct deposit.
  • 2019 Filers: Your payment will be sent using the information you provided with your 2019 tax return. You will not be able to change it.
  • 2018 Filers: If you need to change your account information or mailing address, file your 2019 taxes electronically as soon as possible. That is the only way to let the IRS know your new information.

Note: According to the IRS, they are not currently able to process individual paper tax returns due to the COVID-19 outbreak. So filing electronically is your only choice during the immediate crisis.

The Upshot

The Coronavirus has created disruptions in everyone’s lives. The US government has provided some relief for many through the economic stimulus payments authorized by the CARES Act.

My mom and dad file separately with same bank account info. My moms $1200 came yesterday but my dads status says he is eligible but bank info isn’t on file. I tried like 3 times to submit the details but the system kept saying technical difficulties. Now if i try to submit again, it says I have tried too many times. Says to wait 24 hours but I have already waited more than 24 hours. still says have tried too many times. What gives.

Raj-
I know it is frustrating. However, the only place that can help you is the US Treasury Department.
There really isn’t any other place to get other assistance at this time.
Hoping you get a satisfactory resolution.

get my payment states that on june 23,2020 my stimulus payment of a check is scheduled to be mailed on that date, does that mean it will be sent from IRS on that date or I should receive it in my mail on that day which nis today and I obviously did not receive it.

Troy-
If it is a check or debit card being physically mailed, that would be the mailing date.
Otherwise, if it’s a direct deposit that is the date of transfer.
Thanks for the question and for reading!

How do I know if I am being offered my stimulus money by check or direct deposit to my savings account where my SS checks go. I put in a change of address in April from Fla to Ct as I am a snow bird. I read that if you sent it by check it can not be forwarded. I thought that the checks were to be by electronic means. Looks like I am in limbo. What should I do now?
