When was the last time you stepped foot into a post office? It may seem like it’s been decades. In some ways they seem obsolete. Yet there are many beautiful post offices all over the world. Whether or not you see them as relics and how often or how rarely you use the services post offices provide, they are sometimes in the most spectacularly beautiful buildings. I’d suggest these architectural wonders are worth visiting as destinations rather than for postal services. This article caught my eye because it talks about the most beautiful post offices around the world. I’ve actually visited quite a few of these beautiful post offices, and now some others are on my want-to-visit list!
Designs of Most Beautiful Post Offices in the World
As the article points out, post office design is not often given the same consideration as other public works, like palaces or parliament buildings. But maybe they should be.
For instance, in Mexico City there’s a central post office that looks more like the home of royalty than a mailing center. In Germany, a post office actually is a palace because it is housed in a building where one used to be.

I’ve been to five of the post offices on the list, yet had no idea they would qualify for this list. Heck, I have a family member who even worked in one of the post offices on the list. Who knew? Knowing little about architecture, though I’d like to think I recognize beautiful buildings when I visit them, I can now see how they’d qualify for this list of 11 of the most beautiful post offices in the world.
