Southwest will soon announce that new uniforms are being designed for their flight attendants, customer service agents, and ramp crews as per the exclusive from the Chicago Business Journal. Cintas, a wholesale provider of all types of uniforms for the corporate world, is creating the updated uniforms…as they are for United (see United Updating Uniforms Again, Going Less Cheap This Time).
Starting next spring, Southwest’s female flight attendants will don uniforms with panels of bold blue and warm red — the same colors prominently displayed in a new Southwest livery unveiled in the fall of 2014. Bold red fitted jackets will finish off the look. Female flight attendant dresses also will come with a prominent zipper that runs from the front hem up the side of the dress — a slightly racy touch no doubt intended as an homage to those mini-skirt-clad FAs who first served Southwest customers. Male flight attendants, who weren’t part of the on-board crew in Southwest’s early days, will wear new uniforms featuring dark blue pants and jackets with lighter blue shirts and neckties in bold red.
