Star Alliance member TAP Portugal has announced the resumption of flights to both New York JFK and Boston (BOS) from Lisbon (LIS). The airline last operated the routes in 2001. Boston service is set to begin June 11th while JFK flights will kick off on July 1st. The flights will be operated with new A330 aircraft that are set to be delivered in June. The New York flight will offer a late 5pm departure from Lisbon:

LIS1425 – 1700BOS 332 D
BOS1945 – 0720+1LIS 332 D

LIS1700 – 2000JFK 332 D
JFK2330 – 1130+1LIS 332 D

TAP will continue to serve both Miami and Newark (EWR offers flights to both Lisbon and Porto).

Given that both JFK and BOS are JetBlue hubs, it was no surprise that TAP also announced a partnership with the carrier, bringing David Neeleman (JetBlue founder and current part owner of TAP) back to JFK and JetBlue’s T5.

“Obviously, at the personal level it is wonderful to be back at JFK Airport in New York, as well as the Logan Airport in Boston and have the opportunity to return to work with JetBlue in order to provide the best connections from cities in United States to Lisbon. “

TAP’s new A330-200 aircraft will be fitted with 20 lie-flat seats.

With a cabin displaying 20 lie flat seats from Stelia Solstys in Executive Class and the new slimline Zim EC01 seats with a 34’’ pitch in Economy Plus and a 31” pitch in Economy, passengers will be provided with added comfort as well as with the most advanced audio and visual systems using the most up-to-date Panasonic EX-3 in-flight individual on-demand entertainment system.
