Three Weekend Trips from Rome & Winner of 500 AAdvantage Miles Announced

by Adam

On Sunday, I posted a contest offering 500 AAdvantage Miles for a lucky reader who could guess where I was staying on my weekend trip.  The post read:

Working in Rome for 3 weeks and was lucky enough take a side-trip for the weekend to Sorrento, and get upgraded to this room with an amazingly large patio and incredible views.  Can you name the hotel (Hilton Sorrento Palace) in the picture below?

In total, 56 of the 89 responses were correct and entered into the contest.  The winning comment was response 64 from reader Peter Nepan, selected using random.org.  Peter, please email me at adam@pointmeotheplane.com so that I can get you your points. Congratulations to reader Alex for the first correct response which others certainly “leveraged”.  Also impressive visual confirmation and research by reader Jason via Google Maps.

So yes, working in Rome for three weeks has allowed for some great weekend trip options, especially with high tourist season just about over! Full trip reports coming for all of the hotels below, but very good things to say about the Hilton Sorrento and it was a great launching pad for day trips to Capri.
