This is part ten of a fourteen part trip report from my travels to the UK, Malta, and Mallorca. This picture trip report includes my stay at the Le Méridien Piccadilly in London.

During the few days of our stay, our options were the following at this category 6 property: GBP 347 for the standard non-refundable lowest rate, GBP 215 using our corporate rate, or 20,000 Starpoints for an award.

As this was a work stay, we of course went with the corporate rate. The rate was for a classic room with a queen bed, but I was granted at Club Room with a king bed upon check-in due to my Platinum status.  Loved the look of the lobby and of course the Le Méridien smell throughout.

The room was  a bit larger than my colleague’s who was not upgraded (323 sq. feet vs. 215 sq. feet), but the furnishings were almost identical. The room had a nice modern and crisp feel. As I’ve noted in several of my other SPG reviews, Le Méridien beds are my favorite and this one was no exception. I had a view directly out onto the street but the noise really wasn’t that bad (based on the TripAdvisor reviews, maybe that’s because I’m from NYC?). The bathroom was fine with a really nice and strong shower head. There was a bottle of wine in the room, complimentary water bottles, and a fruit basket. I went with the points for my welcome gift.

Club room benefits included access to the club lounge. The lounge is located on the mezzanine floor overlooking the lobby, was never overly crowded during our stay (usually just 2-3 other people there except in the morning), and served breakfast, lunch/snacks, afternoon tea, and dinner canapés. Alcoholic drinks were not complimentary in the lounge.

There’s also a library / business center located off the lobby as well as a lower level indoor pool for guests.

I really liked the Le Méridien – very comfortable and decently sized room (once upgraded), great bed, excellent concierge, great location for first time London visitors, and nice lounge (minus the no alcohol). Would I have spent 20,000 SPG points per night? Absolutely not! Would I have spent over GBP 200 per night? Probably not as well, though that’s a great price for this property and location but there are better point redemption opportunities throughout the city…more on that in the next few posts.
