If you are a Barclays US Airways card member you may have just received the email below which states “Most important, the card program is not going away. It’s getting better!”
No other details have been provided by American or Barclays but this is a potentially very interesting development! Since it’s “only getting better”, will the “redeem flights for 5,000 fewer miles” benefit stick around as well?

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the email this morning! *crosses fingers*
Its only getting better may mean that the card is getting “enhanced.”
While I haven’t gotten the announcement on any of our accounts yet, I wonder if it’s simply that in some way we’ll be able to have the option of converting to AA miles now within our US Airways/AA accounts, not specifically on the card.
What can you read into this if anything?
That if you were expecting the US card to go away *soon* you were wrong, that its probably not going away for a *while*? Like at least 6 months?
Still submitting another round of applications at the end of this month assuming its going to go away eventually, even if its not imminent.
If I recall correctly thats what happened with USBank and NWA, there was a contract and DL wasnt able to get rid of USB until the contract ran out. So the better question maybe how much longer does Barclays have a contract for with US
