United Ends LAX-SIN, Doubles SFO-SIN

Less than a year after launching the longest flight in the carrier’s history, United announced yesterday it will drop its 8,700 mile Los Angeles (LAX) – Singapore (SIN) flight. Instead, United will double it’s San Francisco (SFO) – Singapore (SIN) service, operating a second-daily flight effective late-October 2018. United’s new schedule to Singapore includes a midday departure from SFO on United flight 1:

United Flight 29: SFO 1055 – 2015+1 SIN Boeing 787-9 (789) daily

United Flight 1: SFO 2240 – 0800+2 SIN Boeing 787-9 (789) daily

The LAX-SIN flight lasted exactly one year, with service ending October 27, 2018.

Big Changes to United’s Singapore Operation

United has served Singapore for over 30 years, most recently nonstop from the carriers two west coast hubs.  United launched its then-longest route from San Francisco to Singapore in 2016 on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Last June, United announced it would operate an even longer route nonstop from Los Angeles on 27 October 2017 while also terminating service from Hong Kong (HKG) to Singapore (SIN), United’s last tag-on flight from Hong Kong. United previously flew Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Singapore (SIN) – which ended with the launch of the San Francisco nonstop flight.

Other Los Angeles Cuts

Effective October 4, United will also terminate daily service from its Los Angeles hub to Mexico City (MEX) and twice-daily service to León (BJX).
