World of Hyatt program changes happen so fast and it seems so often, that they can be challenging to keep track of. Earlier this year Hyatt launched its new luxury program called Hyatt Privé. A reader who knows I’m a Hyatt loyalist asked me if I’d used Hyatt Prive Program benefits and what my thoughts on it were. So let’s dig in, see how the program works, and if it has any value for you when you book Hyatt hotel stays.
What Exactly Is Hyatt Prive?
Many of the high-end hotel groups have had programs like Hyatt Prive in place for years. But for Hyatt, better late than never. With the Hyatt Privé program, travel advisors have access to special privileges and benefits such as exclusive promotions, local recommendations and other connections at Hyatt’s luxury, lifestyle, and resort hotels. So if having VIP benefits (upgrades, early-check-in, hotel spending credits, late check-out) is something you’d enjoy, put getting to know a Hyatt Privé advisor on your to-do list!
The Hyatt Prive Benefits
Hyatt Privé offers special benefits, at no additional cost, for hotel stays at:
- all Park Hyatt hotels
- all Andaz hotels
- some Grand Hyatt hotels
- many Hyatt Regency hotels
- some hotels in The Unbound Collection
When making a reservation via a Hyatt Privé agent you’ll receive:
At Park Hyatt hotels:
- $100 property credit per room per stay
- One category room upgrade confirmed within 24 hours of booking
- Daily full breakfast for two
- Early check-in (from 9am) and late check-out (to 4pm) subject to availability
- Welcome gift and letter
- A one night stay is sufficient to receive these benefits.

At Andaz and participating Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, and The Unbound Collection hotels, you’ll receive:
- A $50 or $100 property credit per room per stay
- One category room upgrade confirmed within 24 hours of booking
- Daily full breakfast for two
- Early check-in (from 9am) and late check-out (to 4pm) subject to availability
- Welcome gift and letter
- A two-night minimum stay is required at Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and The Unbound Collection.

Privé Program Particulars to Know
Hyatt Privé rates will earn points and stay credit in World of Hyatt accounts and if you are a Hyatt elite, you will receive all your elite benefits.
As a Globalist, your upgrade will be confirmed within 24 hours of booking. This surely beats not knowing about upgrades until check-in.
To get the Hyatt Privé benefits, the room must be booked through a Privé representative. Therefore, you cannot stack the Privé booking with a Citi Prestige fourth night free booking. You also can’t book a Hyatt Privé rate in conjunction with a Hyatt member discount rate, a AAA rate, a corporate rate, a pre-paid rate, or an award stay.
Your Privé room rate will be the Best Flexible Rate shown on Hyatt.com. When using a refundable rate you are not paying any extra by using the Hyatt Privé program. If, however, you book a pre-paid, non-refundable rate then Hyatt Privé will cost you a little more, but the benefits might outweigh that cost, so do the math.
The room upgrade Prive benefit is confirmed the day after the reservation is made. It isn’t automatic. Your Prive advisor asks for it after booking through the Prive system for the Prive rate. Once the reservation is confirmed your advisor contacts the hotel with the details and asks for the upgrade. As long as the next room category is available, and this is important to understand, the upgrade will occur.
If the next room category is not available, the upgrade is not guaranteed. Since you booked the best flexible rate, if your goal is to get an upgrade and the upgrade is blocked (which can happen) you can always cancel the booking.
There are times within the Prive program when there is a free night offer and you still get the amenities. For instance, let’s say at the Andaz Maui they have a 3rd or 4th night free offer AND the Prive amenities. This would not only be a great way to stack deals, but a tremendous value, too.
There Are Sweet Spots In the Hyatt Prive Program
For instance, right now there are offers for 4th night free at the:
- Park Hyatt Paris
- Carmel Valley Ranch property in California
- Park Hyatt Vienna
I’ve never met a Park Hyatt I didn’t enjoy, so these are great offers.
Another current example is an offer for the 3rd night free at the:
- Beekman Thompson in New York City
- Park Hyatt Siem Reap in Cambodia
- Andaz Liverpool in London
- Thompson Madrid, Spain
It’s always best to check with a Privé agent as they are the most up-to-date resource we have.
Final Thoughts
Essentially, using Hyatt Privé can get you a better deal than if you were to book directly yourself. The guarantee of an upgrade at the time of booking means you can book at a lower room rate, yet end up in a better room category of room. The extra benefits such as free breakfast and $100 hotel credit also sweeten the deal.
My Hyatt stays are often on Cash+Points using points earned on my World of Hyatt credit card. Going forward, given the changes that took place recently to how the cash portion of that rate is calculated, the Hyatt Prive program benefits are looking better and better to me.
My travel patterns going forward will definitely have me looking more closely at Hyatt Prive Program benefits on stays and working with a Privé representative.

Thanks for the article, as a globalist with a citi prestige and corporate code (Boeing), I didn’t find much need to look into this option as with corporate rate and 4th night free, I’ve been able to book our stays at Hyatt far lower than published rates. but with new changes coming, this option (Prive) might make more sense next year.
Changes in the landscape have me setting my course differently, as well. Hope you’ll find some great rates and upgrades using Prive.
Is there any list of hotels that participate? I reached out to a Hyatt Prive travel agent for a stay at the Grand Hyatt Athens. It was my first communication with the person. I was told that the hotel didn’t participate, which was a bit annoying. I really prefer not to guess or have to check every single time when there’s a hotel I’m interested in using. Particularly since I’m lacking an established relationship.
HI Christian, Sorry it took so long to get back to you with an answer but I wanted to do some research first. No, there is not a published list of which hotels participate. And I doubled checked and indeed, the GH Athens is not included. I agree, it’s frustrating that some Hyatt properties are excluded. I will say though, that the Prive advisor I mentioned in the post would be a great advisor to establish a connection with and wouldn’t mind checking on hotels for you because as you said, there is no list. You link to TravelByKatie a few times. Do you think that going with a CTC would be advisable for a true travel professional, given that that’s the gold standard for the industry? I don’t see any industry standards on her website, such as ASTA, CLIA, TIA, etc., only that she runs a LLC. A Certified Travel Counselor must have a certain number of years experience as well as passing some pretty stringent tests. What are the minimum standards to be a Hyatt Prive travel agent?
I am glad you asked the question as there is much misleading information about these days about who we are and what we do. I am an Independent Contractor with a (50) year old host agency that is a founding member of the prestigious and well respected Virtuoso consortium. This professional host affiliation allows me to also be a member and the ability to leverage their intellectual property and relationships for the benefit of all my clients. My parent company is a member of ASTA, IATA and has been featured and feted many times for their expertise and business practices in leading travel publications such as Conde Nast and Travel & Leisure Magazine. Virtuoso and my parent company, Largay, both have exacting, elevated and enforced professional standards for being a travel advisor within their affiliation and networks. Failure to meet these standards of professionalism and conduct will be cause for dismissal. And it does happen.
CTC is not synonymous with having a gold standard for being a travel advisor. There are no requirements to obtain this classification or others that may potentially be offered. They are essentially certifications someone can chose to obtain. It does not mean they are perceived to be operating at a higher level of accountability, standard, or ability to perform than someone without them.
There is, for the most part, a lack of official training or licensing requirement for doing what we do. Only a select few travel companies have dedicated training-educational mentoring programs to become a travel advisor. To provide me with the best industry education and knowledge foundation, and subsequently my clients with the most professionally provide experiences, I chose to align with a company who has a dedicated (6) month learning academy. Additionally, they continue to invest in their team with ongoing, intensive in house training and professional development.
Regarding being a Hyatt Prive advisor (or similarly Four Seasons Preferred Partner, Belmond Bellini, etc, all of which I am proud to carry the designation), is at the discretion of the respective company/hotel to select which agencies they want to best represent their product and be able to offer the elite services. Only a select , vetted, chosen number of agencies are allowed to offer Prive rates.
