Airlines Release Uplifting Brand Videos During Coronavirus Pandemic

It’s a tough time for the entire travel and aviation industry with difficult news coming out daily. But even in the midst of trouble, some airlines have taken the time to release stunning ads that hit us right in the feels. They highlight the critical role airlines continue to play in our lives while reminding us of what we have to look forward to once this is all over.

American Airlines: You Are Why We Fly

The new American Airlines brand video has a simple message. According to American:

The intent of this video is to create a timely, uplifting, reassuring message that recognizes the current state of the world and American’s role in serving essential travelers during this difficult time. We wanted to recognize the important work our teams are doing to serve these travelers today and give future travelers confidence in American being there for them in the future.

The ad does a great job showing the essential role airlines are playing, even while we stay home. It is uplifting while

LATAM Airlines: Further, Together

The latest ad comes from LATAM Airlines Group. Their ad starts with scenes from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Santiago, Chile  — two of their most recognizable destinations — and more scenes from across its route network. Cleverly, the airline, which officially leaves the Oneworld alliance on May 1st, flipped its tagline from “Together, Further,” to “Further, Together” to promote social distancing.

With a voice-over evocative of an in-flight announcement, the airline highlights its continued work to provide essential connectivity while urging social distancing:

The call is clear. Turn off our engines for now always with the future in mind. But someone has to keep flying. Because even when everything shows us we have to stop, there are people who need us to keep going. Cities needing doctors. Patients waiting for an organ. Families who are far away and hope to get back home soon. That’s why we’ll keep flying as long as we can. Because in difficult times, our commitment is even stronger.

Qatar Airways: Earth Day 2020

Released on Earth Day, the video from Qatar Airways has a very simple message that expresses what so many of us are feeling these days:

“We’ve taken it for granted, as it would always be there. We realize just how much we miss it. How much we need it. When this is over, we need to appreciate it.”

Qatar Airways has probably been the airline providing the most global connectivity during this crisis for essential passengers. It was one of the first to proactively help frequent flyers by extending status. And now, their new ad has me missing flying more than ever. I can’t wait to hop on a Qatar flight and enjoy the fantastic Q-Suite again.

Emirates: Do You Remember?

Emirates was the first airline to release a brand video and true to Emirates fashion, it’s a stunning reminder that although things are rough right now, we’ll eventually be back in the air again. When I posted the video to my Instagram story I was deluged with responses about how it made my friends feel. You can’t help feel sad but hopeful watching it.

At some point soon, Coronavirus will be behind us. And we will be back in the air experiencing life as it’s meant to be.
